FAQs

  • There is a benefit to choosing how you want to engage in your 1:1 experience.

    As we continue to change the way that “mental health has always been done” then that means we need to align towards how we best experience mental health support.

    PHONE: Your counsellor will call you at the time you chose and this provides you with the freedom and flexibility to be wherever you need to be. You might be in your favourite chair with a notebook or you might be taking the dog for a walk. Either way, choose the best space for YOU to receive the call.

    On our end, confidentiality will stay intact as we make these calls in our private office.

    VIRTUAL: Seeing each other allows us to see the body language that is happening. We can start to notice the facial movements and help you in your own awareness of what might be happening so you can explore the physical and emotional connections. Again, you choose where you take this virtual call!

    Be in your comfortable clothing, your favourite room in the house, or perhaps you are connecting while on a break at work, the choice is yours.

    On our end, we will continue to uphold confidentiality by being in a private office.

    WALK: Movement while talking is very beneficial! It allows the emotions to freely move through the body rather than being stuffed down and closed off. Respecting your story is important so we walk trails that are in Okotoks but have less foot traffic.

    On our end, we may bring a dog for these sessions as she helps to keep us present in the moment and grounded during these various conversations. If you have a dog you are more than welcome to bring them along. We encourage that these sessions continue to be 1:1 and that a friend, child, or partner is not included in the walk (unless otherwise planned)

    OFFICE: In order to keep our costs low we have chosen not to go the traditional route of having an office. This means that if you want to meet face to face then we can go for a walk or I can book a private meeting room that provides some privacy. If you are uncomfortable meeting at another establishment then we suggest choosing a phone or virtual for your sessions.

  • Our philosophy is that finances should not be a barrier to receiving counselling.

    For 60mins sessions, we have a sliding-tier system to choose from.

    The support you receive does not change based on the amount you can pay.

    Sunflower: $140/ session.

    This rate is the standard fixed rate.

    Lavender: $70/session.

    Choose this rate if it suits your finances the most.

    *** If the Lavender rate is still beyond your budget ask Tia about other flexibility

    For an extra 30mins on your Mental Heath Session: $40

  • Many employers provide you with a health benefits plan.

    We are all Registered Social Workers you can claim your expenses through your plan.

    Note: Some providers only cover MSW or certain types of counselling. If this is the case you might be able to use your health spending OR keep your receipts for taxes and claim under Medical Expenses.

    NO COVERAGE?: If you are like many Albertans and don’t have a health benefits plan AND the three price points above do not work for you then we have one more option!

    Tia is a counselling partner with BeMorr Society in order to provide low-cost counselling sessions.

    They are a charity that helps make counselling affordable and easy to access. Once you complete their intake form you can select (Tia Bell) as your preferred counsellor and we can begin immediately. (click here to start their intake)

  • Confidentiality basically means that you are the keeper of your own story. Your experience is your own. Although we encourage you to share your truth with those you trust, it is ultimately your decision of what you choose to say or do not say.

    Confidentiality does not mean you need to keep your journey a secret. If you wish to share privately or publicly that we are working together then by all means do!

    On our end, we will not share your story with anyone or tag you on social media (unless given permission to do so for specific reasons).

    There are times when we will seek continued professional supervision and may discuss parts of what we are working on together. Your identity is not shared and the purpose is only to help us grow as professionals and provide you with the best services possible.

    As Registered Social Workers, we are ethically required to disclose incidents regarding child abuse, homicidal, and or suicidal concerns. What this means for us is that you and your counsellor have a transparent conversation if there are areas of concern and together decide the best course of action and who else to bring in as support depending on the situation.

  • Unscripted Co. has a social media presence. This is typically on Instagram and Tik Tok.

    We use social media to share in the conversations about mental health wellness and to highlight key topics.

    It is your choice to follow us but please know that if you have a public account we may select the follow back button, if you wish for us to not follow you back PLEASE inform us as soon as possible so we can make any corrections needed.

    It is our company policy to not follow any clients (or potential clients) unless they have requested to follow Unscripted Co. first and they have a public profile.

    Please note: If you tag Unscripted Co. it may be shared in our stories or pages.

  • What you put into these 1:1 services is what you’ll get out of them. If you are showing up distraction-free and have prepared potential thoughts you want to explore then it will make for a successful session. If you are distracted by your phone, work, or noise in your home, and are not sure about what you want to work on at that moment it will make the session more challenging to get productive outcomes.

    On our end, we will show up with our phones silenced and out of sight. We will have reviewed our previous conversation and outcomes/goals that were previously set.

    Please note that we do use an encrypted program to take notes that highlight our conversations but we do not take detailed notes of the discussions we have.

    Although homework is not given every time we will follow up via email with any homework or suggestions that were provided during the session.

    We will be mindful of your time and be your guide throughout the session.

    **Unscripted Co. employees are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and up to date with all other recommended vaccines. Unscripted Co. follows all AHS health regulations.

  • We are regulated by a professional college and take our standards of ethics very seriously.

    If you don’t feel like you have been treated fairly by any one of the social workers through Unscripted Co. or that there has been an ethical breach please know you can always speak with the Owner, Tia Bell to discuss further.

  • Life happens, and mistakes happen.

    If you are going to miss your session please notify your counsellor as soon as possible via text message:

    You will not be charged for missed appointments.

    However, if we seem to be having a scheduling issue then a further conversation about how to make the meeting more successful will be had before any future sessions are booked.

  • We actively support the open conversations about mental health and also understand that your journey will be different than anyone else’s. Some ways we provide additional support outside of your individual sessions are:

    EMAILS: In these monthly emails we will share additional courses, programs, and blogs that we have created that we believe will add value to your journey. If you want to opt out of those emails please do so! There is always an option at the bottom of the email to unsubscribe.
